As I work on my writer "brand", I am getting exited about the publication of my book THE WONDER TREE. I have been working on various forms of this novel since the mid-eighties!
The first title was MAGNIFICAT, because one of the narratives tells the story of of Mary of Nazareth but in a Salvadoran setting -- and Mary's infant María Luz takes the place of the historical Mary's child Jesus.
What would the whole Christian history have been like if Jesus had been a woman? Had grown up as a girl?
Unlikely at the time of Jesus because of the restrictive role of women. But could the Christ have entered history at a later date as a women?
The character of María Luz gives us an image of the answer to these questions.
Meanwhile, the protagonist of the main story, Joanna Bowley, goes along without much identification with the church of her parents and her husband's family but engages in an incredible faith journey even so.
